so jason isaacs' episode of entourage finally aired, and im a bit disappointed in the amount of screentime. what can you do. im clearly not upset enough to start watching brotherhood again. super lol. in other news, the family came up this weekend and melissa stayed over with me saturday night. much to everyones dismay, im sure, i didnt get her wasted. instead we watched some old skool greys anatomy. i miss greys when it wasnt atrocious.

i also saw happy-go-lucky, which was slightly less happy than i had imagined. but still very cute. more exciting, though: on the way into the cinema, there was a poster for jamie bells movie hallam foe (for some reason its "mister foe" in the states. wtf). i totally geeked out because i thought it had already been released and i had missed it. so yay! as always, i ended up recounting my grievances against evan rachel wood and explaining why our relationship has been forever soiled (obviously, for dating jamie bell, then for breaking his heart, and then for dating marilyn manson). apparently my friend allen also doesnt talk to her, but more because shes not dating him and less because she is dating marilyn manson. either way, we are totally soulmates.

procrastination comes easily to me. ive been reading nonsense and watching crap tv instead of studying for my genetics test, but nothing can distract me as much as accidentally (cough) stalking the history boys. i dont even remember why. wait. there was something about james corden on oh no they didnt. so, yeah, there went several... units of time that i wont admit to. but it brings me back to the other day, in the car with jenn and mallory, when jenn insulted dominic cooper in re: mamma mia, and i just went HOLD UP. you did not just diss my boy. and mal, quite rightly, said if i ever ran into them i would completely believe my delusion about being biffles with the hx crew.  whatever. ill sit all by my lonesome in the theater to see valkyrie when its released in, like, 12 years. but this is cute at least, in a liberal politico way (see? history boys IS relevant...).

EDIT: a way, way, wayyyy more awesome comic strip. check it out or be... smote?
EDIT 2: suck it, hataz: a positive review for valkyrie.

after being inundated with all this comic con business, ive realized theres this huge, gaping whole of pop culture that ive been left out of. its really upsetting. its like being rejected from the cool kids table, except the cool kids are actually uber geeky trekkies and the like. but still. my kids will be watching star wars from the womb so theyll never have to feel my pain.

a while back on my path of loving robert downey jr, i decided id watch ally mcbeal. only its crazy difficult to find it online (unless you read mandarin, which i dont). and the dvds are only released region 2. wtf, i ask you. so after watching (and enjoying) the first episode, i think ill have to put that venture indefinitely on hold. but speaking of RDJ, and specifically tropic thunder: the Official Site of Kirk Lazarus.

for your viewing pleasure: Sequelitis: The Cure for Rampant Sequel-Itisdont go back to the well until its a brackish puce color; How Movie Theaters Work, or, why popcorn is $6. but i still dont know why people gripe about trailers, theyre the best part!; Four Celebrities Who Just Might Be Superhero Alter-Egos, #2 is great in light of recent transgressions, but #1 is truly inspired; LOL Vogue: I Can Haz Wind Tunnel?, u no was hot? ewok sleevz.

its been quite the week. i had my first genetics class (and second one in several hours... i should really be asleep), which was clearly the intro i-think-youre-all-retarded lecture, which was kind of non-entertaining. i finally saw the magnificent seven (awesome) and star wars 4 and 5 (i know it took a while, but i got there, didnt i?). i watched both seasons of spaced (also awesome, very much like a less-disturbing british version of strangers with candy) and strategically left the room at the less parent-friendly bits in weeds, which my mom started watching. the dark knight comes out on friday, and the bookstore in the mall finally had the batman issue of empire magazine (read: the june issue...). ive also begun to eat yogurt, which is a big deal for me. you should be proud.

to completely digress from life, back to spaced: edgar wright and simon pegg (and jessica hynes, but who cares about her) are doing a publicity tour for the us release of the spaced dvds (til then, you can watch the show on youtube). and theyre having a Q&A at village east cinema on monday at 7 pm: anyone want to come? i won't go alone, but id love to go. i imagine wed have to get there a bit early, but... come on, the guys who brought you hot fuzz and shaun of the dead, y'all.

this week has gone by surprisingly slowly. ugh. but im going home this weekend for pesach and for a doctors appointment (fingers crossed im healed), which should be something different, if anything.

yesterday by excollege teacher advertised a meeting for "tufts against machetes," which was a complete joke. but people showed up. and the first half of class he spent talking about machetes, and empty activism, and stupid people. it was actually really funny. im just an awful story teller.

also, jonathan ross's voice makes me angry. i think thats weird. but in other movie news, the trailer for the escapist is finally online. it looks pretty good, plus it stars joseph fiennes, damian lewis, and dominic cooper.

back at school. woe. still only in the hundreds of golden compass. but in the most cryptic way possible, based on how far along i am, was i supposed to be surprised?

i believe i mentioned my contentment with the most recent state of my Wall of Fun, but if i found This Poster from a movie starring colin farrell and ralph fiennes,  i would totally knock down half my collage to make it fit. because, damn.

other than that, i have absolutely nothing to tell you. so enjoy the rest of the evening, preferably with as little homework as possible.

nights like these are why i am proud to be on tems. and to be sober. after the mentee meeting we were driving around, eating candy and discussing various tems members sexual proclivities. then we came to south to stalk the kid in charge of tems, who we found terribly drunk. and he actually is really hairy.

ps did anyone watch er? well, i should say does anyone still watch er? because i have two issues with this past episode. 1) why did abby have random inappropriate sex with the older, less attractive new er chief INSTEAD of the adorable intern whos in love with her? 2) how come stanley tucci, the older, less attractive new er chief, keeps getting so much ass on network tv? im a big fan of the tucc, but come on. this is getting ridiculous.

EDIT!! so this is the first time in a long time that ive watched a movie trailer and said, and i quote, "hmdhhjdmdjvohsd." VALKYRIE, that ive noted my excitement for previously, with its cast/crew of bryan singer, chris mcquarry, kenneth branagh, bill nighy et al, is also costarring jamie parker, my favorite history boy. i told you this movies gonna rock.

who knew the 1 30 sunday matinee of michael clayton yields a rowdy bunch. lots of laughter. mostly inappropriate. several hearty gasps. and i am reluctant to admit that only a few moments ago i slammed my knee into my desk, and a sound quite similar to the "shock" ones made by the folks sitting behind me came out of my mouth.

but back to parents weekend, heres the shortlist of what mommy brought me: my violin, random sheet music, an issue of empire, stephen colberts new book (!!) and several other thick, thick texts, and pasta salad from iavarone brothers. yay!

and now i continue to not do work. instead, undertow is currently switched on. i remember not really liking it, but i miss jamie bell. super stoked for hallam foe (us release date?) and jumper. though i must admit, i am enjoying having legitimate reasons to hold a grudge against evan rachael wood.

naps make people feel better. so does "bittersweet symphony." when *youre* not playing it, obviously. so does exploiting your obsessive compulsive personality by finally putting magazine clippings on your wall. although its still not as awesome as last years. mostly because its the wall behind my desk, so im ALWAYS looking at it, and i couldnt waste space with random ads just because they were pretty or something. its partly less awesome because of less james mcavoy. hopefully thatll change come atonement. did i tell everyone i pre-shot the atonement review? sigh.

lunch with gretchen soon. THE RUNDOWN ahora. yay teddy/dan!

im terribly bored. i figured id share a few recent thoughts of mine.

// i do nothing, really, extracurricular-wise, yet i am still super-busy. not even counting the weeks (fuck, weeks) of work in which im behind.
// this means that i miss 'house' in real-time.
// hugh lauries "comedy voice" (yes, he has one, whether or not he admits it) is adorable.
// i really hate that girl who hugged michael sheen. i dont know where that came from, but i was thinking about it today.
// i pre-snagged the rights to review 'atonement' for the daily. im writing it here, because i guarantee in three months (a) the movie wont come out, (b) ill have some crazy conflict (i.e. death), or (c) the daily wont be running the article anyway, because who cares about atonement.
// someone has to write my resume for me. i have serious issues.

i had written down in my "movies to check out" book that i wanted to see this upcoming movie called "the holiday," only i couldnt for the life of me remember what it was about. so i imdb'd it, and now i remember (i wont tell you because its really just a waste of time when you can imdb it yourself, bitches). but anyway, i clicked on the link to rufus sewell's name, you know, just for kicks, and i found out that hes married to a woman named amy gardner. so now i like him quite a bit less. not that anyone cared, or anything.

ps elizabeth swann joins the "im a dirty skank whore club," in the good company of elpheba and meredith grey.

how is it that i'm the last person to find out that kevin spacey is slated to play lex luthor in bryan singer's superman returns?? i read it last night in my february edition of empire -- which i got yesterday. but i forgive it, because there was a whole page dedicated to peter sarsgaard. although they did make a bigger deal out of his 2-second nudity and 5-second kiss with liam neeson than i did. wait, right, kevin spacey. so yay! because who doesnt love the singer/spacey combo?

and yay for passing road test again. oh man, so excited. a little more'n a month til i get my license :-D:-D:-D
