after being inundated with all this comic con business, ive realized theres this huge, gaping whole of pop culture that ive been left out of. its really upsetting. its like being rejected from the cool kids table, except the cool kids are actually uber geeky trekkies and the like. but still. my kids will be watching star wars from the womb so theyll never have to feel my pain.
a while back on my path of loving robert downey jr, i decided id watch ally mcbeal. only its crazy difficult to find it online (unless you read mandarin, which i dont). and the dvds are only released region 2. wtf, i ask you. so after watching (and enjoying) the first episode, i think ill have to put that venture indefinitely on hold. but speaking of RDJ, and specifically tropic thunder: the Official Site of Kirk Lazarus.
for your viewing pleasure: Sequelitis: The Cure for Rampant Sequel-Itis, dont go back to the well until its a brackish puce color; How Movie Theaters Work, or, why popcorn is $6. but i still dont know why people gripe about trailers, theyre the best part!; Four Celebrities Who Just Might Be Superhero Alter-Egos, #2 is great in light of recent transgressions, but #1 is truly inspired; LOL Vogue: I Can Haz Wind Tunnel?, u no was hot? ewok sleevz. |

you know whats really nice? when i have just said im hungry, but i dont feel like going down to the dining hall alone, and then the roommate's friend shows up 10 minutes later and they go to lunch without inviting me. thats really, really nice.
on another bitter note, my brain is apologizing for spazzing out yesterday by bestowing happy robert downey jr dreams upon me. sorry brain, but im not that easy (except i totally am).
also, theres a strangers with candy mini-marathon on comedy central til 4. check it out. |

this week is going by so slowly. which is good, i guess, since i have a chemistry test next tuesday that i have barely begun to study for. ahh! and naturally, i havent begun my chem lab report, because im too busy watching the green mile. which at least quashed a childhood fear of mine. a little.
ooh, last night i dreamt that i met robert downey jr, which was really cool. but why is it that whenever i try to abbreviate his name, it comes out "r.b.j"? then i realize that is not the correct abbreviation, upon which it becomes "r.b.d." still not correct, lauren. why am i so bad at abbreviating things? this reminds me of a fond sig memory, when i tried to abbreviate my signature "wait for it," which became "w.f.o." intelligence.
also, studio 60 on the sunset strip is awesome. the pilot was okay, but last nights show was awesome. though i must say, aaron sorkin wasted his time changing around character names. okay, so i get "matt," but, come on, "danny" is really josh with lighter hair, and calling danny "cal" is just too confusing. come on, kids. |

damn is life boring, but i wanted to use up the subject (^^^see above) before i forgot it. apparently, someone wrote it out as a "chief complaint" of a patient on a pcr.
but if you were wondering, at all, which i doubt you were, i watched one of the "sharpe" movies this evening and it was actually pretty entertaining. plus the awe-inspiring sexiness of sean bean. ::falls off chair::
ps: i caught a bit of the inside the actors studio con robert downey jr, and when he was asked "what sound or noise do you hate," he responded, "custom ring tones." LOL. |

i am the worlds biggest loser. point a: i downloaded appx. 7 versions of greensleeves to listen to. and one of them, i noticed, did not agree with the key signature that said all fs are sharp. and it made me laugh and cringe at the same time. point b: i downloaded robert downey jr's record. if you pretend its not him singing (why is he trying to be the southern bruce springsteen? he *does* realize hes from new york, right?), its not that bad. the tunes, i mean. the lyrics are pretty sucky. point c: well, basically everything else about my life.
ugh, and i went to quiznos for lunch with mal and janna and it was really fun and i was having a good time. and then as we were leaving, the ambulance pulled in and i got all excited because i thought melissa was there. but instead it was rob barr and i had to hide because i hate him.
but the rochester med program app is done. woo hoo! and today registrar called me down to tell me my roswell recommendation came in. i miss roswell. i talked to brian for the first time in forever today. he really is moving to arizona at the end of the school year. what a poop. and the other day i was thinking about jay. i think the jim-from-the-office interview reminded me of him. except without the ace ventura impressions. which i admit, i miss. even though i dont like ace or jim carrey. |

OMG ems. who'da thunk that the monthly meeting would have been this interesting? it was so counterproductive that i should have left, but i wanted to see what happened, or, more precisely, who won. jeannette was right: i am the quintessential movie buff, even when its not a movie. which is either a compliment or just too sad for words.
so thursday is harry potter at midnight. excited like whoa. i just need to take a hella long nap beforehand. but still, enthused majorly. except im kinda bummed because walk the line isnt playing anywhere nearby. so i might just have to see capote after school on friday or saturday or whatever.
yeah, so, thats about it. still pissed that the dying gaul is only playing in, like, one theater in manhattan. oh man, its a theater right by lincoln center -- i am so flippin jealous of everyone in ap italian, because theyre going to the opera tomorrow. i might just have to hitch a ride and cuddle up to peter sarsgaard's bisexual #2. i cant even be mad at the slash. if anything, it means that people know who he is...
and robert downey jr movies from the 80s/early 90s are the guiltiest pleasures everrrr. |
